What is D.A.A.P.E.?
D.A.A.P.E. stands for Drug and Alcohol Prevention Education. It's primary purpose is to educate young men and women of the physical effects of drugs and alcohol on the body. In cooperation with the Home of Grace, Dr. Del Austin developed the D.A.A.P.E. Mobile, a remodeled school bus. With the seating removed, a center wall built, and walkways and railings installed, this retrofitted bus is a moving museum. Local artists began contributing pieces of art depicting the effects of drug use. Titled posters list the effects of each drug's effect on the body. The DAAPE Program was made possible through a grant from the United Way of Jackson and George County.
This website is based on the D.A.A.P.E. brochure and provides statistical facts regarding the use of Tobacco, Meth, Alcohol, Steroids, Marijuana, Opiate, and Cocaine. Take the D.A.A.P.E. tour by clicking "Next," or go to a specific section by using the navigation on the left.
